Tribes: Ascend is an upcoming free-to-play PC first-person shooter that pits teams of players against each other in fast-paced sci-fi combat. Hi-Rez hopes to tap into the classic Tribes vibe by giving players the power to "skate" along the landscape and channel their momentum into gonzo aerial acrobatics.

Help Name Pinball FX Developer Zen Studios’ Next Game

I'm terrible at naming things, but it looks like I'm not the only one. Pinball FX creator Zen Studios is running a contest asking fans to help name its latest project.

The concept art above comes from the new game, which is described on the Zen Studios website as "an experimental rhythm game" that includes combat and "an East Asian theme." Currently the game is being referred to as Zen Fu, but the developer wants fans to submit new name ideas by January 4.

In addition to the honor of having named the game, the winner will be featured as a character and will receive special mention in the credits. If you have an idea, e-mail it to zen-fu@zenstudios.com.

Batman is many things to many people. For some, he's the world's greatest detective, able to solve crimes and bring those responsible to justice. For others, he's a protector of the innocent, keeping the residents of Gotham City safe while patrolling the darkened streets and alleys. And for Batman: Arkham City, he's like your very own doll, with a wardrobe filled with fancy outfits skins. In appreciation for a great year, Rocksteady Games is delivering a new Batman Inc. skin free of charge. The studio has also released a code for the game, which allows players to swap their version of Batman out from the beginning rather than having to wait until they beat the game.

The Batman Inc. skin will be available for download tomorrow on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the newly released PC version.

Meanwhile, here's how you can access it and other outfits right from the beginning, courtesy of game director Sefton Hill:

[P]ress the following combination on the Main Menu screen (after you have selected your save slot):

     – Left, Left, Down, Down, Left, Left, Right, Up, Up, Down.

You will get an audio confirmation and when you continue your game, you will get the option to select your favorite skin.

Ta dah!

Like almost everyone else here at the office, I'm currently in the middle of a love affair with Skyrim. It's my favorite game of 2011, and I can't seem to tear myself away from it. Despite this, I really don't know much about the world and history of Tamriel. Plenty of books have tried to teach me these things, but I usually close them as soon as I realize they don't give me a skill bonus. Thanks to YouTube user lore, you can now get (sort-of) caught up in a minute and 49 seconds.

While I still don't know the ins and outs of what's going on in the Elder Scrolls universe, I now have some events to vaguely connect with those names I keep seeing during load screens.
